Introduction

This class is designed to help strengthen and tone your upper and lower body.  Stability is incorporated in the class as well to help improve balance and core strength.  You can also expect some light cardio to bring up your heart rate.

What you need:

  • a pair of hand weights (1-2 pounds, or more if you want!), you can even use soup cans/water bottles
  • a resistance band
  • you can use a chair if you want more support during balancing exercises
  • a yoga mat

Class Benefits

Resistance training (using weights and working against a force, such as a resistance band) helps increase your strength.  Keeping your body fit and strong is important to making sure you can live a healthy and active life.  Strong muscles make everyday tasks easier, and reduce the risk of muscle strain.  In addition to cardio, resistance training has also been shown to be incredibly useful for weight loss.

In this class Amy incorporates the use of bands and weights and an exercise that focuses on cardio.  I feel like I’ve had a gentle but energizing workout as well as a good stretch that makes me feel like I’ve done something healthy for my body and my mind!
